One of the biggest myths about Scouting is that Groups are closing down due to a lack of young people wanting to become Members. Nothing could be further from the truth; Scouting in the UK is a growing Movement and nationally we currently have 30,000 young people on our waiting lists simply because we do not have enough adults to help out!
You may feel that you have no skills to offer Scouting - but everyone has something to give. Adults in Scouting are from all walks of life each with different backgrounds, skills, hobbies and interests.
There are hundreds of different volunteer roles on offer, from management positions, running activities to behind the scenes roles.
You don’t have to be a Scouting expert or an outdoors survival specialist to make a difference. Volunteers can help in many ways, from passing on first aid experience to teaching the young people how to cook and from organising a fundraising activity to keeping account of the group funds.
What you can get out of volunteering - Volunteering in Scouting is fun and rewarding. You will have the chance to learn new skills, rediscover adventure, make new friends, spend more time with your child if they are a Scout and give something back to your community.
Giving a little bit of time will help in a big way. Scouting is a unique adventure that’s full of surprises.
But don't take our word for it, join in and see for yourself! - Our Group Scout Leader is called Gemma. If you would like to join our Scout Group or would just like to find out more, then click on JOIN US or CONTACT US to contact Gemma.
